Samsung Galaxy S27 Series: Variants, Expected Specs, Pricing, Features and Launch Dates

The Samsung Galaxy S27 series is already shaping up to be one of the most closely watched Android flagship launches of 2027. While Samsung has not officially announced the lineup, early reports and database listings suggest that the company may expand the family beyond the usual three-model structure. The expected range could include the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, with the new Pro model positioned as a compact premium option between the Plus and Ultra.

    Expected Launch Date

Current expectations point to a January or February 2027 unveiling, with retail availability likely to follow in February or March 2027. Samsung traditionally uses a dedicated Galaxy Unpacked event for its S-series launches, followed by a short pre-order period before devices reach stores. Because the Galaxy S26 launch shifted later than Samsung’s usual January cycle, many reports suggest Samsung may try to return the S series to an earlier launch window with the S27 family.

    Expected Specifications

    Display and Design

The Galaxy S27 series is expected to continue using high-refresh-rate Dynamic AMOLED displays with bright panels, deep contrast and premium colour reproduction. The overall design may remain familiar, especially on the standard and Plus models, but the Pro and Ultra variants are expected to receive more attention because they may carry more advanced display and privacy features. Some reports suggest Samsung has explored different display suppliers for selected models, but final panel sourcing remains unconfirmed.

    Processor, RAM and Storage

The S27 family is widely expected to use next-generation flagship chipsets, with a possible regional split between Qualcomm Snapdragon and Samsung Exynos processors. The Ultra model is rumoured to use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro-class chip in key markets, while the standard, Plus and Pro models may use Exynos 2700 or equivalent Snapdragon hardware depending on region. RAM could start at 12 GB on premium configurations, with the Ultra possibly offering higher-memory options and storage tiers up to 1 TB.

    Camera System

The biggest camera upgrades are expected on the Galaxy S27 Ultra and possibly the S27 Pro. Early rumours point to an upgraded 200 MP main sensor for the Ultra, potentially with variable aperture support for improved low-light performance and more natural depth control. Some reports also suggest changes to the telephoto setup, including the possibility that Samsung may rethink the traditional 3x lens arrangement. The standard S27 and S27 Plus are expected to receive more modest camera updates, likely relying heavily on computational photography and AI processing improvements.

    Battery and Charging

Battery capacity is one of the most uncertain areas of the S27 rumour cycle. Some early leaks suggested very large battery increases, while later reporting has been more conservative. A realistic expectation is that Samsung may improve battery density, possibly through silicon-carbon technology, without dramatically increasing phone thickness. The Ultra could receive a larger battery than the S26 Ultra, while the Plus and Pro models may sit in the middle of the range. Wired and wireless charging improvements are possible, including broader support for magnetic Qi2-style accessories, but confirmed charging speeds are not yet available.

    Expected Features

    • Galaxy AI upgrades: Improved on-device and cloud-assisted AI tools for photos, messages, productivity, search and voice features.
    • Privacy-focused display technology: Some reports suggest Samsung may bring anti-snooping or privacy display features to more S27 models.
    • Improved camera processing: Better HDR, low-light performance, portrait processing and video stabilisation are expected, especially on the Ultra.
    • S Pen support on Ultra: The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to remain the productivity-focused model with S Pen functionality.
    • Potential Qi2 magnetic charging: Magnetic wireless charging support is rumoured, though not confirmed.
    • Long software support: Samsung is expected to continue offering a long update policy for flagship Galaxy devices.

    Expected Pricing

Official pricing has not been announced. Based on the S26 generation and current market direction, Samsung may keep pricing close to the previous lineup, though rising component costs could still lead to increases. The Galaxy S27 may start around the upper premium range, the S27 Plus may sit above it, the new S27 Pro could create a fresh mid-premium tier, and the S27 Ultra is likely to remain the most expensive model.

    • Galaxy S27: Expected to start around US$899–US$999, €999–€1,099, £879–£949, ₹87,999–₹94,999, or AU$1,499–AU$1,649.
    • Galaxy S27 Plus: Expected to start around US$1,099–US$1,199, €1,249–€1,349, £1,099–£1,199, ₹1,19,999–₹1,29,999, or AU$1,849–AU$1,999.
    • Galaxy S27 Pro: Expected to sit between the Plus and Ultra, at roughly US$1,199–US$1,299, €1,349–€1,449, £1,199–£1,279, ₹1,29,999–₹1,39,999, or AU$1,999–AU$2,199.
    • Galaxy S27 Ultra: Expected to remain the most expensive model, likely starting above US$1,299, €1,449, £1,279, ₹1,39,999, or AU$2,149, depending on region and storage configuration.

Should You Wait for the Galaxy S27 Series?

If you already own a Galaxy S24, S25 or S26 device, it may be worth waiting until more reliable leaks appear before deciding. The S27 Ultra and S27 Pro are currently the most interesting models because they are expected to receive the biggest hardware changes. However, if you need a phone immediately, the Galaxy S26 series or current-generation premium Android alternatives may still be better value, especially once discounts increase.

    Final Outlook

The Samsung Galaxy S27 series appears to be more than a routine annual refresh. The rumoured addition of a Galaxy S27 Pro, possible camera upgrades for the Ultra, improved chipsets, AI enhancements and potential battery improvements could make the 2027 lineup more compelling than recent Galaxy S generations. Still, all current details should be treated as early expectations until Samsung confirms the phones at its next Galaxy Unpacked event.
