Nothing has unveiled Nothing OS 5.0, the latest version of its smartphone software, with a broad visual refresh and a stronger focus on personalisation, artificial intelligence and more intentional phone use.
Built on Android 17, the update refines many of the elements users see every day rather than discarding the minimalist identity that has defined Nothing’s phones. Typography, icons, spacing, materials and motion have been revised across Settings, the status bar, Camera, Gallery, widgets and system controls. The result is intended to feel more consistent while retaining the company’s monochrome, hardware-inspired aesthetic.

Rollout begins with an open beta
The Nothing OS 5.0 open beta begins with Phone (3) on 26 August 2026, with more eligible phones scheduled to join over the following months. Nothing says the wider rollout will begin in October. The redesigned Launcher and Micrographics clock face are expected to arrive with the general release, while selected Essential Space and Essential Voice capabilities are due later in the year.
As the software remains in beta, availability and timing may change as testing progresses. The final experience may also vary between devices depending on hardware support, optimisation and certification.
