Samsung is expanding the role of the television with Vision AI Companion, a conversational artificial intelligence service designed to help viewers search, discover and understand content without leaving the screen.
Viewers can open the service with the AI button on a compatible Samsung remote—or by holding the Home button on some models—and speak to Bixby using the microphone button. The system can answer questions about what is playing, suggest related programmes and provide access to Smart Hub services.
From better pictures to easier discovery
Vision AI combines several features in one interface. Live Translate can produce translated subtitles for supported content, while AI Upscaling and automated picture and sound adjustments aim to improve lower-resolution video, dialogue clarity and the overall viewing experience. Generative Wallpaper can also create original background images based on a user’s chosen theme.
The TV can also act as a connected-home display through Samsung’s SmartThings platform. Depending on the model and region, viewers may be able to check compatible household devices, receive alerts and control parts of their smart home from the television.
A more conversational big screen
The larger shift is about making television easier to use. Instead of navigating several menus or reaching for another device, viewers can ask a question in everyday language and receive information or recommendations on the big screen. Samsung also lists Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity as separate AI agent apps on supported models.
Support is not universal. Samsung says Vision AI Companion is available on selected televisions and monitors, including certain 2025 models, The Frame, The Frame Pro and supported Smart Monitor products. Features may differ by country, language, content source and model. An internet connection and Samsung account are required, and users must review the service’s privacy notice before first use.
For audiences worldwide, Live Translate and multilingual interaction may be among the most useful additions, although availability will depend on local support. As television makers add more generative and conversational tools, Samsung’s approach points to a future in which the TV is not only a screen, but also a search tool, translator and connected-home assistant.
